Saturn
About:
”Saturn” is a double paneled diptych framed into one piece. Painted with oil, gold leaf, and spray enamel on a plaster substrate..
The original vision for “Saturn” was quite simplified. A black bird escaping the fire of the world to head into the underworld for respite. But as I was painting it, it became exceedingly more and more complex to the point of it took me a solid 8 months to complete and taxed me as an artist.
it became the most frustrating work I had ever worked on.
When it finally came into completion, I realized that I had done the bulk of the painting while transit Saturn was squaring my natal Sun (the second half of 2019) and only when the transit was past by 3 degrees, I was able to finally complete it. A literal documentation of a Saturn transit.
But let me tell you what…this painting is a stunner. In true Saturn style…What the planet of restriction makes you work for, ends up being well worth the effort.
